Mechanics Tools

Most people that drive cars know absolutely nothing about them; personally I think this is very bad. If you are planning on driving a car then I think you should spend time at least learning some of the basics. Being able to do basic things like changing a flat tyre will save you a lot of money over the long run.

Tools you need

To do these simple tasks you must invest in some high quality car repair tools. These car tools are very useful as they will enable you to do some of the simplest tasks quickly and easily. The actual tools that you require will vary depending on the job that you want to do.

Changing tyres

To change your tyres you need to invest in a jack. Although you probably have one that came with your car it's a good idea to get a better one. When looking for a jack I would suggest a hydraulic jack. You will also need a lug wrench to remove the wheels and secure them back on again.

You will also need a torque wrench and oil filter wrench for other jobs around your car. A socket set will help you to loosen and tighten nuts and bolts on your car. You also need a set of screwdrivers to unscrew various screws.

Checking Fluid Levels

To check your fluid levels and add new fluid you need rags, rubber gloves and funnels. The gloves aren't essential of course; however they do help you to keep your hands much cleaner.

Other tools required

There are various other car tools that you require to make car repair easier. These include:

  • Jumper cables
  • Continuity Tester
  • Pliers
  • Stiff Brush
  • Utility Knife

You should look after your tools and make sure that you take good care of them; this will ensure that they last for as long as possible.
